3.3 ATTACKING 16 YARD HITS
First priority is to take the hit early while a hole still exists. If this option is closed down then choose appropriate option from below.
a. B to WH to W to I
Use when free hit taken near centre of ground so LH is not crowded and opposition wing does not come back on our LH.
b. B to WH to B to W to I
Use when free hit taken near centre of ground when LH is not crowded and opposition wing does not come back hard on our LH but the path to our W is covered.
c. LB to LI thru made Hole
LH is no use close next to LFB so she becomes a hole to hit thru. She must be call so B
knows LH is ready to jump.
d. B to deep B to opposite WH
When cannot get thru on same side send ball to non crowded side and then move ball forward
quickly.
e. Back returning after fetching the ball receives the ball
After retrieving the ball the Back returns to a position where she has a hole in front of
her and the ball is pushed back to her here so she can hit the ball thru the hole to
one of our players.
f. Numbers ascendancy
One FB moves in front of the ball to give her team a loose man. If this girl gets marked then the ball is passed to the new free girl otherwise the loose FB can receive the ball.
h. To Inside or Wing
W positions herself in line with FB who has ball and the Inside. Thje Inside leads, if her
opponent follows her the ball is hit thru the hole made. If not and our Inside is left
unmarked then the ball goes to the Wing via the our Inside.
