- Product forming
- Automatic setting
- Automatic dehacking and packaging
- Kiln car movement systems.
The J C Smale engineering team evaluates all the possible solutions in respect of your specific requirements and on the basis of this analysis will present an efficient, dependable solution to give you the competitive advantage.
Raw Material Preparation
Primary Crushers
Heavy duty primary crushers for high volume crushing of clays and shales for soft and medium hardness.
Impactor 740XL
Four models are manufactured with a capacity up to 110 tonnes per hour.
Multi-Deck Screens
J C Smale multi-deck screens offer a significant advance in screening technology. Vibrating and heated inclined screen decks of reducing aperture and progressively steeper angle maximise throughput. Covers enclose the screen for dust containment.
Apron Feeders
Apron feeders are constructed with overlapping steel slats supported on heavy duty flanged roller chain. They are fitted with electronically controlled variable speed drives to automatically vary the feed rate.
Belt Feeders
Belt feeders are constructed with a heavy duty rubber belt supported on closely spaced idler rollers. Ideal for storage and proportional feeding of fine ground clay.
Roto Store
Rotating storage bin for fine ground clay. Ideal for variation rate feeding. Tapered cone eliminates contamination.
Product Forming
Slug Cutter
Electro-cut slug cutter is used to cut clay extrusion to length for feeding to multi wire cutter. Guillotine blade ensures a square cut on end of the slug. Can be supplied to retrofit wire type or pneumatic cutters.
Multi Wire Push Through Cutters
Push through side cutters for the manufacture of extruded brick. They feature dual cutting frames which interchange to minimise lost time due to cutting wire changes and product changeover.
Up-stroke Cutter
Up-stroking cutters are used when a sharp arris is required on the brick face. They feature dual cutting frames which interchange to minimise lost time due to cutting wire replacement and product changeover.
Repress
Multi head hydraulic represses combine the process of extrusion and pressing. They are used for pressing bricks and pavers and produce a superior product with optimal strength and wear characteristics with precise dimensional accuracy. The process takes extruded and de-aired material for repressing to the desired final shape. Large format (400 x 400) clay paving is a feature product of these machines.
Ridge Tile Forming
The ridge (or capping) tile system automatically forms and cuts the tile to length in a continuous operation. After forming, the tiles can be robotically loaded into dryer racks.
Texturing
SimTex - Simulated Green Rumbling
The new patent pending J C Smale SimTex texturing device is a fully automatic assembly that can be tweaked and adjusted to match the look of a hand tumbled brick.
The SimTex simulated tumbled brick texturing device is a stand alone unit mounted in the off-bearing line between the slug cutter and the setting system.
It is a flexible, high production solution for providing a wide range of products with the tumbled brick look that can be set automatically.
Features
- The SimTex device provides a product with a tumbled brick look that can be set automatically.
- The SimTex device can be adapted to most making line applications.
- The SimTex device can usually accommodate the production rate of your making line and setting system.
- Processes and textures one slug at a time.
- Utilizes state-of-the-art synchronized servo technology with user friendly software to tweak and adjust to get the desired tumbled look.
- Coordination of the mechanical tooling and the electronic controls offer random texture development to closely duplicate the hand tumbled look.
- The SimTex device can be engaged and disengaged on the fly.
- The SimTex device can also be tweaked and adjusted electronically on the fly from one slug to the next.
The tooling and software is designed to allow for quick change capability
Automatic Setting
J C Smale design and manufacture automatic setting machines to suit each customer’s specific requirements.
Whether setting bricks, pavers or blocks in the green or dry state, in low or high production rates and in diverse configurations, we will analyse your requirements and provide the most appropriate solution.
Our accumulated years of innovation and experience in this field, together with our broad experience with robotic applications, makes J C Smale a sound choice as supplier of your setting machinery.
Automatic Dehacking and Packaging
J C Smale design and manufacture automatic dehacking machines to suit each customer’s specific requirements.
Whether unloading bricks, pavers or blocks and whatever packaging format is required, we will analyse your requirements and provide the most appropriate solution.
Our accumulated years of innovation and experience in this field, together with our broad experience with robotic applications, makes J C Smale a sound choice for your dehacking and packaging machinery.
Kiln Car Movement
Transfer Cars
Transfer cars can be supplied for full electric or electro-hydraulic operation and are equipped for fully automatic kiln car movement.
Finger Transfer Cars
Finger transfer cars are used to move product supported on drying trays and to load/retrieve drying or curing chambers.
Finger transfer cars can be supplied with either electric or electro-hydraulic operation and are equipped for automatic function.
Indexers
Indexers at setting and dehacking machines are required to precisely position kiln cars at the correct location. J C Smale indexers use electric drives and positioning encoders to achieve the required accuracy and speed.
Haulages
Various types of haulage are manufactured by J C Smale.
Counterweighted Rope Type
Can be single or two way and can move up to six kiln cars at a time.
Retrieval Units
Are used to move a train of stored kiln cars to allow each one to be retrieved by the transfer car.
Single Car Haulages
Have a drive at each end and move a single kiln car with each cycle.
J C Smale engineers will evaluate your kiln car automation requirements and recommend the most appropriate system to meet your needs.
